Lake homes, lockboxes, and same-day Airbnb checkouts only work if the people walking in are known to us—not a last-minute stranger from a marketplace. Exclusive Housekeeping screens, trains, and stands behind every cleaner we send to Indian River, Petoskey, Cheboygan, Gaylord, Harbor Springs, and the towns within 30 miles of 49749.
We clean year-round houses and short-term rentals. That means we are often in a property when the owner is at work, downstate, or between guests. Screening is not a slogan on a flyer for us. It is how we decide who is allowed to represent Exclusive Housekeeping in someone else’s kitchen, nursery, or rental turnover.
Nobody is sent on a client job as a “trial run” in your home. New team members go through the steps below before they are scheduled on a recurring maid service route, a deep clean, or an STR checkout.
A consistent path from application to first client visit—not a handshake and a mop.
We collect a real application, work history, and contact information. Identity is confirmed before anyone is considered for client homes. We are looking for people who can show up on Northern Michigan time—winter roads included—not résumé theater.
Our managers interview for reliability, communication, and how someone handles keys, pets, and owner notes. Vacation rental work is discussed plainly: lockboxes, same-day turnovers, offsite laundry, and the standard we owe a guest who has never met us.
Candidates complete a background check before they are dispatched to occupied homes or unoccupied rentals. We do not treat “background-checked” as optional for people who will have access to your property. Results are reviewed before scheduling.
Where prior cleaning, hospitality, or service work exists, we look at it. Gaps and job-hopping get questions. Airbnb hosts and busy families are trusting us with entry codes; we would rather hire slower than explain a bad hire later.
New cleaners learn our residential checklist, STR turnover expectations, product preferences (including eco-friendly options when a client asks), and how we document a visit. They work with experienced Exclusive teams before they run a home alone.
Jobs run under our commercial general liability policy and our name—not a gig profile. Schedules, notes, and invoices live in the Customer Portal so you can see who is coming and what is due. Issues get a manager, not a vanished contractor.
Screening does not stop at the first clean. Exclusive Housekeeping keeps a small, local roster on purpose. We serve a defined radius so the same people return to the same cottages and in-town homes. Clients can leave access notes, gate codes, and laundry preferences in the portal instead of texting a new stranger every week.
We expect punctuality, no unannounced guests on a job, respect for cameras and household rules, and a clean report if something is damaged or missing. Property managers who book bulk checkout dates should not have to wonder whether “the crew” is actually ours.
If a standard is missed, we want to hear it the same day. That is part of being a licensed and insured residential cleaning service—not a revolving list of independent cleaners collected from an app.
Indian River and Petoskey properties often sit empty between weekends. Cheboygan and Gaylord homes may have kids, pets, or a lockbox on a lake road. A professional house cleaning for busy families and a same-day Airbnb cleaning service have the same requirement: the person with the code is someone we have already decided we trust.
You can also review our license and insurance documents. Screening plus coverage is the pair most owners actually want—not one or the other.
